Happy Lunar New Year 2019, also known as the year of the Pig. What does this year have going for it and what could it mean to you and your Military Family? Take a look!
What’s the Pig All About?
The Pig is one of the 12 animals designated for each year in the 12-year Chinese zodiac calendar, which repeat in this order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
The Chinese Zodiac also includes five elements that are part of the creation cycle: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, which also repeat. Each element brings its own influence on the particular animal year. Here’s how the elements play together:
- Wood is created by Water, engenders Fire, and paralyzes Earth
- Fire is created by Wood, engenders Earth, and melts Metal
- Earth is created by Fire, engenders Metal, and traps Water
- Metal is created by Earth, engenders Water, and cuts Wood
- Water is created by Metal, engenders Wood, and extinguishes Fire
In 2019, the element of the Pig is Earth. This Pig likes a good party, and brings with it a happy, dreamy attitude that knows how to say what needs to be said. Though Pig years (and those born in a Pig year) tend toward lazy, it’s not because they are slovenly… it’s because they live like royalty and have someone else do the clean-up. They can get away with it because they bring wealth and good fortune with them.
And this good fortune is gained through hard work and focus. So it’s all good. Just keep track of your spending… because you will be spending. If money management becomes an issue, make sure to consult a professional to help you make some sound investments.
However, you’ll want to verify and re-verify new friendships, as the Pig isn’t the best at noticing when things are awry. He’s just not that particular. He’s also not very romantic. Wild, yes. Tactful, no. You may find yourself debating him all of a sudden in a war of words.
On a diet? You may have to try a little harder to stay on your regime because everything around you will look so good and tasty, you’ll want to indulge. But hold fast if you want to keep your physique in check.
