It is ALL about #HealthyCooking this week!

I hope you all are enjoying the awesome information.  This week on The Hip Spot we had David Wintzer of WEDO.  I had such a great time talking with him.  This week we are talking about healthy cooking to lead into next week’s topic, “Spring Into A New You”.  We will have guest, Mary Kosir.

Speaking of springing into a new you, my husband is on a health journey himself.  He has recently set a goal for himself to compete in a local wrestling match.  He wrestled in his youth, and wanted to challenge himself with this goal.  I think that is so awesome!  Setting goals for ourselves definitely teaches us discipline.  He, however, has to lose a few pounds make weight.  So we started talking about adding flavor to his healthy meals, as he is not used to eating as I do.  For a lot of us, we relate healthy cooking to flavorless food.  So not true!  In the beginning of my health journey, I used staple items to create the flavor I was used to, while still maintaining the healthy component of the food.

So I wanted to share great healthy flavor options when cooking meals…

Lemons

This is definitely my “go to” flavor option because it typically adds a more tangy taste to my food.  This is definitely a great substitute for salt.

Cayenne

I LOVE a little kick to my food.  Cayenne also offers a awesome punch to bland food.

Garlic Powder

Garlic powder is a GREAT option to pack the most punch of flavor.  The best thing about garlic powder is that it really can be used to season most foods.  It’s versatility to be used to add healthy flavor to so many meals makes it my #1 staple in my kitchen.

Apple Cider Vinegar

This is totally awesome.  I love the tangy flavor it can add to salads when made as a dressing.  If you listened to The Hip Spot with guest Drew Pearlman then you know that this was the Awesome Product of the Week for that show.  For very good reason!  It adds healthy flavor from everything from veggies to even popcorn!

Cinnamon And Stevia

This is a great way to add flavor to plain yogurt, cottage cheese and plain cereal.  This is a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth without compromising your health and fitness goals.

My husband and I have been busy in the kitchen experimenting with different flavors that he finds appealing.  When making the turning point to healthy cooking and eating it is all about experimentation.  I spent a lot of time experimenting with different flavors and finding what worked for me and my own personal taste.  Healthy food and cooking doesn’t have to be bland at all.  It is really a time of exploration.  It is ALL about you!

Till Next Time…Add Some Spice To Your Life!
