The 2020 Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting and Exposition is taking place virtually this week, from October 13-16. The AUSA annual meeting and exposition is an opportunity to connect soldiers and their families with resources, information, and support.
A key part of each AUSA annual meeting is the presentation of the George Catlett Marshall Medal, AUSA’s highest honor. The tradition, which began in 1960, recognizes distinguished and selfless service to the United States. This year, the Marshall Award is being presented to “The Army Family”— the spouses, parents, siblings, children, and loved ones of American soldiers.
Army Families make daily sacrifices to help ensure the strength and preparation of the US Army, but their service has been immeasurable through the continued coronavirus pandemic. Soldiers and their families have undergone frequent short-notice deployments at home and abroad, while facing other uncertainties the pandemic has brought to our lives and our country.
“AUSA is proud to honor our Army families for all the sacrifices and contributions they make year after year,” remarked LTG Guy C. Swan III (USA, Ret.), AUSA Vice President of Education, “The support from our military families is vital to maintaining America’s all volunteer force. The Marshall Medal is just one way to thank them for the role they play in preserving our freedom.”
The 2020 AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition is being held virtually this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. SpouseLink is proudly exhibiting in AUSA’s “Family Readiness Pavilion.” This is SpouseLink’s second year in the Pavilion, which is dedicated to organizations such as SpouseLink that serve military families.
