The life of a military spouse can be lonely, but hearing stories and advice from others who have experienced military life and its challenges is a great way to feel connected with people who can understand what you’re going through from their own experience. For me, it can feel like I am the only one facing these kinds of challenges, and it is one of the reasons I love listening to podcasts. When I hear stories from other military spouses about their lives, I realize I’m not the only one facing the difficulties military life can bring. So this week, I’m sharing some of my favorite podcasts that I think military MilSpouses should check out.
For this list, I’ll share podcasts that can be found on Apple Podcasts. The main landing page or platform use by each of them might be different, but as long as it has a presence on Apple Podcasts, it is included. While not all of these podcasts are currently posting new episodes, the content is still valuable and was recommended by a few fellow military ppouses.
1. Milspouse Matters by Jennifer McDonald is a place where military spouses can find encouragement. Jennifer notes, “Whether I’m talking with a guest, drawing from my experiences as a military spouse of three decades, or sharing resources I’ve come across, I hope you’ll find encouragement and practical support for your military spouse’s journey.”
2. 15{ish}-Minute Coffee Chat with Anna and Selena is a fun podcast focused on military spouses. Co-hosted by Anna Larson of NomadAbout and Selena Conmackie of Hauoli — Socially Inspired as they have casual chats about business, marketing, and everything in between. Both Anna and Selena are SpouseLink guest bloggers, and Anna is a SpouseLink Ambassador.
3. Military Money Show by Lacey Langford is a podcast that helps U.S. servicemembers, Veterans, and their Spouses make, save, invest, and spend money wisely. Host Lacey Langford interviews inspiring guests on personal finance, investing, entrepreneurship, debt, insurance, military life, and a whole lot more.
4. The Spouse Angle with Natalie Gross is a podcast breaking down the news for military spouses. It started in 2019, first as a podcast and then as a broader digital news outlet, to bring trusted, relevant news to military spouses and their families.
5. Army Wife Talk Radio Podcast is a talk radio program that will empower YOU in your military life journey. It is brought to you by the Army Wife Network (AWN) Command Team and pro-military sponsors. AWN is a collective group of military spouses and military community members on a mission to globally empower other military spouses, families, and servicemembers by providing resources that engage, educate, and encourage.
6. I’Mpossible by Spouse-ly shares the stories of how Spouse-ly vendors and community partners are using their talents, strength, and grit to inspire us to turn the impossible into I’M possible. Spouse-ly is a partner of AAFMAA.
7. Sisters-in-Service by Cat Corchado is last on the list because I am both a military spouse and Veteran. I want to wrap up this list with a podcast that gives women Veterans the platform to talk about those exact issues and more. While focused on women Veterans, it also includes stories from spouses, Veterans, and military children just like you who have overcome their transition from the military into civilian life.
I hope these podcasts will help you find connection and community — and at least a little solidarity to let you know you are not alone.
But this list is just to get you started. There are so many great military spouse podcasts. Which is your favorite? Please add it as a resource for military life in the comments.
