The Wall Street Journal has created an amazing piece about Ian Welch who was on his first combat tour in Iraq, waiting to storm across the Diyala Bridge and seize Baghdad when an artillery round exploded behind him. The artillery round killed two Marines and wounded several others. Lance Corporal Welch did two more tours of Iraq over the next two years before being diagnosed with TBI and PTSD. Military doctors determined he was 100% disabled. He now turns to Katie Brickman, a bartender he met and shared his story with. She is not only his girlfriend, but his caregiver.
