In recent years, Black Friday has overflown into Brown Thursday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. Commercial emphasis on shopping and saving have made this time of year feel very greedy. The second annual #GivingTuesday is a day encouraging the art of giving; an attempt to counteract the constant consumer excess. It was started by New York’s 92nd Street Y to promote giving in all shapes and forms. What can you do on this national day of giving? Give to a non-profit organization of your choice, volunteer at your local animal shelter or food bank, or help out someone who’s having a tough time. Giving comes in many forms – help make someone’s day by giving whatever you have to offer. If you know someone who has made a point of giving back to others or their overall community, send out a Tweet or Facebook post with #GivingTuesday to point out their good deeds. What are you planning to give this #GivingTuesday?
