This craft is a great project for turning old newspapers into something fun for the kids, a unique way to wrap gifts for others and it’s perfect for saving money! Send your old newspaper on one last functional mission before it gets thrown into the trash or recycling pile.
Whether your gift is wrapped in newspaper or expensive boutique wrapping, the recipient is going to tear into it all the same. This wrapping will be more of a conversation starter than that expensive boutique paper too!
Here’s what you’ll need
- Old newspaper
- Craft paint
- Paint brushes
- Glue (optional)
- Glitter (optional)
Here’s how it’s done
- Find the pages of your newspaper with the most text, and the fewest pictures.
- Pour drops of paint directly onto the newspaper. Kids can either use their fingers or brushes to spread out the paint.
- Let the paper dry while the kids are outside playing, or distracted by another project. (If you need to speed up the drying process, use a hairdryer).
- If you want to add more color to the paper, repeat the process.
