The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) defines food fraud as “the adulteration, dilution, or mislabeling of goods.”  A new study conducted by the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention, a non-profit consumer watchdog group that helps set quality and safety standards, found a 60% rise in food fraud since last year.  The research found that olive oil, milk, saffron, honey, and coffee were the most commonly fraudulently produced items.
