Easter is just a few weeks away, but Easter candy has already arrived! Marshmallow Peeps are one of the most popular candies this time of year.  Peeps can hold their own in the candy world, but we’ve thought up a few improvements that adults, kids and candy-lovers everywhere can enjoy!

Peeps S’mores

This is a great idea for Easter Day dessert. We found this tasty treat on Lori Anderson’s blog, Pretty Things. It’s the same traditional recipe with one minor change: instead of using a plain white marshmallow, replace it with a Peep. The Peeps make the s’mores festive, and since this is a holiday when many families come together, it’s fun to make these tasty treats together. And let’s face it, who doesn’t like s’mores?

You can also make these into handy little gift packages for family and friends during the Easter season. It’s perfect when your kids are having a party at school, when you want to give your dinner guests a fun little gift, and a nice thought for the neighbors.  Just put a mini chocolate bar, a Peep and 2 graham crackers into a clear cellophane bag. Tie a ribbon around the top, and there you have an affordable and super adorable party favor.

What you’ll need:

  • Graham crackers
  • Plain milk chocolate
  • Marshmallow Peeps of your choice
  • Small cellophane gift bags
  • Ribbon

Peeps Centerpiece

Just trust us on this one. Robyn Bomar posted this beautiful idea on her website, Mix Mingle Glow. In a short vase (the shape of your choice), place a smaller glass vase or plastic cup into the center. Be sure the smaller vase or cup is also shorter than the larger vessel.  Pour colored glass pebbles of your choice, or jelly beans, into the bottom of the larger vase, making sure the layer is even. Next, add bunny peeps, standing up with their backs against the smaller vase. Add water and fresh flowers to the smaller vase and arrange as you like. The end result should look like a 3 layer arrangement (pebbles, Peeps then flowers).

What you’ll need:

  • Glass pebbles or jelly beans
  • 10-15 bunny Peeps
  • Small 14-oz. clear glass vase or clear plastic cup
  • Fresh flowers of your choice
  • 1  4.5″ square or round vase

Peeps Drink Toppers

Our world changed when we realized we could buy Peeps dipped in chocolate! Brilliant, we know! Our world was turned upside down when we found the Sweeten Your Day Events blog which posted this idea. If you or one of your friends decides to host a get-together, be sure to get some chocolate-dipped, chick-shaped peeps. This is such a fun and funny addition to any drink (especially blue cocktails). Kids also enjoy having a colorful little bird in their drink (a great excuse to make blue Kool-Aid).

What you’ll need:

  • pre-dipped chocolate chick peeps
  • drink of your choice (preferably blue!)

Chocolate Peeps Pops

Continuing with the chocolate Peep theme, you can either buy or make this next Easter creation. We found a pretty tasty-looking homemade version on The Family Kitchen blog.  We suggest using bunnies if you’re planning to make them yourself.  All you need is chocolate and lollipop or cake-pop sticks which you can pick up at any art supply or crafting store.  Once you make the bunny into a lollipop, dip their heads in chocolate. Cover with sprinkles and enjoy! Package them in a cellophane bag, and they also make great gifts and party favors.

What you’ll need:

  • Bunny Peeps
  • Melted chocolate for dipping
  • Lollipop or cake-pop sticks
  • Sprinkles
  • Cellophane bags
  • Ribbon
