Today I wanted to talk about how to keep your spirits high this winter and holiday season. Winter can definitely be tough! The lack of sun, cabin fever and snow can be hard for a lot of people. I wanted to offer 3 ways to keep your spirits high and keep you healthy and well:
1. Turn on the lights
Seasonal Affective Disorder is a real problem for many people. Studies suggest that bright lights can brighten your mood during the colder months when you aren’t exposed to as much natural vitamin D.
2. Keep moving
The more active you are, the better you feel. This is true year round, and will help make a noticeable difference in the wintertime.
3. Check your diet
Comfort foods aren’t the answer this time of year. Get as many fresh foods as possible; and remember, everything in moderation.
The winter blues are real, and affect us mentally and physically. If you know someone who may be feeling down this winter season, reach out to support them.
