PopSugar Food has a super fun holiday activity that’s perfect for all ages! In fact, it’s simple, festive and delicious! Just invite your besties over for a fun cookie decorating party. Plan a fun holiday party for your kids and their friends. Or whip up a few of these “surprise” cookies as surprise treats as gifts you can give to anyone!

The best part (other than their tastiness)? They’re not just for Christmas! You could make these surprise treats for Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, birthdays and any event or holiday you’d like to share a sweet gift full of love! So follow along with the video to see how it’s done!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Sugar cookie dough — Either homemade or store-bought would work. Just be sure to read any package instructions and take them into consideration when you’re following along with the recipe. You know how something calls for butter and you use margarine instead? Well… that’s not always the best idea, as it can completely alter your cookie’s outcome. Just sayin’.
  • Cookie icing — So tasty, so decorative, so colorful, so many ideas you can come up with to use it! This is an ingredient you’ll want to make sure you have on hand before you start… ’cause it’s the fun part and you won’t want to delay it!
  • Mini candies — Hmm… could this be part of the surprise? We’re not going to tell! But be sure to pick your favorites!

And… once you’re busy snacking away on this recipe, if you want to prepare for more holiday baking to keep the warm Christmas mood going in the kitchen, check out our recipes for Melting Snowman Cookies and Peanut Butter Reindeer Cookies. Yum!

We’d love for you to “surprise” us with your favorite holiday cookie ideas. Just comment below or share a story!
