Finding plenty of activities to keep children engaged can be trying. Parents may not be devoted to crafting all day, or children may be too young to be outdoors, so I always encourage cooking with children. Cooking is a passion of mine so I’m eager to get my kids in the kitchen to watch how I prepare foods, which ingredients are healthier and permitting them to use their own cooking utensils like the ones provided by Curious Chef. This life skill teaches children how to read directions as well as interact positively with parents or caregivers.

My daughter has been helping in the kitchen since she was two. The one-on-one time we spend together is really awesome, plus I’m helping her acquire a skill we all wish we had. I enjoy making kid-friendly recipes that are fun yet easy so she can prepare at least 90% of the meal herself, such as these kid-friendly English muffin pizzas. What child wouldn’t want to make Smiley Face Pizzas?  This simple recipe lets children measure the sauce; toast the muffins (with supervision depending on age) and add the toppings any way they desire. This builds an enormous amount of self-confidence so be sure to praise your child while they are prepping the meal. These fun pizza muffins will also let your child’s imagination run wild. Because of the mini pepperoni, children can add cheeks or tongues!

We use healthier ingredients so my child can see that healthier eating is important. Use the vegetables and let them try the pizza they created. If they choose to pick them off later, that is okay! Enjoy the kid-friendly Smiley Face Pizzas, and remember, give your child the hands-on experience so they can feel proud!

About Nichol

I’m a stay at home mom to two children, a son who is 8 and a daughter who is 5. Before kids I had a big obsession with designer gear, and spending way too much money. After my son was born, I had to learn how to shop by shopping clearance, online shopping, and never paying full price. I’ve done pretty good. Now I have an addiction to online shopping for kids deals, online children’s sales, and home decor! Find deals and ideas at KiddiesCorner Deals.
