As we approach 2015’s half-way mark, let’s take a few minutes to re-examine and re-align the goals you’ve made for yourself at the beginning of the year.  You probably made some pretty big goals for 2015 back in December; but how well are they progressing? Are they still on your radar? Have your self-improvement goals changed in the last 6 months?

You might be right on track, you may have fallen off the self-improvement wagon as soon as the Times Square ball dropped (as many of us do..) or you may have no interest in the goals you set out for yourself long ago.

Not to worry! You can still make significant strides to better yourself, your family, your community and the world during the second half of the year.  Here’s some inspiration to get you back on track:

Do something for yourself

Most New Year’s resolutions revolve around picking up healthy habits, or dropping the unhealthy ones. Get in shape. Quit smoking. Get organized. Read 12 books this year. Take a step to boost your career.  Whatever your self improvement goal is, make sure it’s something that will make you a better person. Do something for yourself – something that will have a real impact on your life.

Do something for your family

What have you noticed in your family that needs a little polishing? Need to create a budgeting strategy? Want to be better about supporting your child’s new drumming hobby (although it’s hard to remain sane…)? Want to finally landscape the back yard, stain the deck or organize your home office? Now’s your chance to support your family in whatever they’re involved, create a more comfortable house or even save money that can go toward a family vacation.

Do something for your community

Do something kind for people in your community. Your local food bank or soup kitchen will always welcome volunteers. Work an event your church is hosting. Volunteer with your base USO.

Do something for the world

Is there a cause you’re passionate about? If you’re not in a position to get out there and physically build those Habitat for Humanity houses or take a trip to dig a well for the locals to have access to clean drinking water, consider making a donation to an organization which exists to make those good deeds happen.

Make a small donation to an organization created to provide soap to rural villages to prevent disease. Support an organization that protects and advocates for some of the world’s most vulnerable children. Do something good for someone you’ve never met.

If you got a little sidetracked for the first few months of the year, don’t let that de-rail you for the last few months. Establish your goals and look at the upcoming 6 months as an opportunity to do something good for yourself, the ones you love, and others around the world.
