Life is full of surprises. We all know that, especially for MilFams. However, according to a recent report from the Federal Reserve Board, nearly 40 percent of all Americans would be unable to cover an unexpected $400 expense. Not surprisingly, it gets worse the more expensive the problem. A study done by Bankrate found that nearly 60 percent of Americans — well over half of the country — don’t have the means to cover an unexpected expense of up to $1,000.

So even though we all know to expect the unexpected, most of us aren’t prepared for the inevitable surprises life loves to throw at us. If you haven’t asked yourself this question, yet, it’s about time you do: Could you handle an unexpected life event? If not, don’t worry. There are ways to turn things around and get prepared quicker than you might expect.

Readiness starts with preparation. Sudden emergencies or an untimely death could wreak havoc on your family and finances, especially if you’re unprepared. Having a plan of action is the first step towards preparedness. Knowing what you and your miltary family will do when faced with an emergency will go a long way in keeping everyone, and everything, safe.

But how do you make that plan? And what exactly should be in it? For more insight, join AAFMAA Wealth Management & Trust Relationship Manager Tony Oliver for a free, LIVE webinar. You’ll learn how to manage big financial risks — such as death and incapacity — with insurance, smart financial planning, and other useful tips.
